Electric grills: safeguarding the summer cooking companion from overheating

As the temperature rises, so does demand for grilled food whether at home or in pubs or restaurants. The convenience and efficiency of electric grills makes them an easy and reliable way to cook both outdoors and indoors.

Many commercial spaces restrict gas and open-flame grills, making electric models a safer and more viable choice for summer events, catering services and quick-service restaurants. To ensure the highest levels of safety, temperature switches such as the TB97 are a critical thermal safety component, performing the following functions:

  1. Overheat protection: The TB97 utilises a bimetal snap-disc mechanism that responds quickly to rising temperatures. When the grill's internal temperature exceeds a predetermined threshold (up to 450°C), the TB97 automatically interrupts the electrical circuit, cutting off power to prevent potential hazards, such as fires, or damage to the appliance.

  1. Automatic reset: After the grill cools down to a safe temperature, the TB97 resets itself, allowing normal operation to resume without the need for manual intervention. This feature ensures both safety and convenience for users.

  1. Reliable temperature control: the temperature switch ensures that heating elements in the BBQ stay within safe operating limits, preventing excessive heat buildup that could cause burns or damage.

  1. High-temperature tolerance: Specifically engineered for applications requiring high operating temperatures, the TB97 has ceramic housing with excellent heat resistance. This ensures the temperature switch can function reliably in equipment such as electric ovens, heating plates, and BBQ equipment, without degrading or malfunctioning.

By integrating the TB97 temperature limiter, manufacturers can enhance the safety and reliability of electric BBQ grills, addressing key concerns related to overheating and potential hazards while meeting rigorous safety standards. As a result, users can have peace of mind during operation.
